As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you.” (Isaiah 66:13)
As we honor our mothers, thanking God for the gift of motherhood and the source and the gift and the breath of life, we thank God for the image and model of all motherhood, our beloved Mother Mary. Our sweet and gentle Lady who extends to us all a mother’s tender love, patience, support and understanding. Our Lady models for us the great esteem our Lord places on mothers and the fruitfulness of their tender love and compassion in cooperating with God’s grace to bring forth heirs and beloved children of the Kingdom of God. We honor our Lady and all our mothers.
Those that are here with us and those who are with the Lord. We thank God for the gift of our mothers. For the great gift and sacrifice of their yes. For the gentle quiet ways of their ongoing relentless support and for the courage when it was necessary to correct us but always with that special love of a mother like that of the Lord, willing only what is best for us. Leading us to joy, comfort and happiness that only a beloved mother could bring.
Thank you, Lord, for all mothers, for our Mother Mary and our own mothers as well. Bless them for their courage, for their kindness and all the blessings and prayers that get us through the storms and celebrations of our times. Happy Mother’s Day. We love you.
